Ratepayers in the Township of Machar must obtain an entry card to access the landfill site. There is a $20 card fee required. The garbage must only be generated from the ratepayer’s property in the Township of Machar. Non-Township of Machar residents can obtain an entry card to use the Landfill for $350 per year, limited to South River, Lount, Laurier & Ballantyne. The disposal of some items, like furniture, mattresses & appliances requires additional payment.  Tires are accepted free.

• Our Recycling Program has changed! Tin cans, paper, plastic and glass can go in the same bin. Please follow signage at the Landfill Site, speak to the Waste Mgmt Co-ordinator or staff on site if you have questions about where things should go.
• Please take lids off any containers that will hold air, this will take less space in the shipping bin and make compacting easier.
• Please rinse cans and jars. NO FULL cans or jars of food in the recycling bin.
• Please empty compost out of plastic bags.
• We now bale hard cardboard with our Corrugated Cardboard (such as cereal boxes, pop cases, Kraft dinner boxes).
• Please note when dumping construction rubble or shingles, DON’T DUMP on the driveway or on sand (less chance of a flat tire).
• Please sort metal from rubble.
• Please only put clean wood on the burn pile (no plastic or furniture).
• Please drop off any reusable items at the Machar Mall located at the front of the Landfill Site.
